John L. Annis
1948 – 2005
John L. Annis, age 56, a resident of Parkers Prairie, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
Funeral services were Friday, May 6th, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River with Rev. LeRoy Scheierl officiating. Burial took place at the church cemetery.
Arrangements were by Markham-Lind Funeral Service, Parkers Prairie Chapel.
John Lawrence Annis was born on July 10, 1948, in Parkers Prairie to Vern L. and Marie B. (Kraemer) Annis. He grew up in Carlos, attending Carlos Public Schools. Later he attended Cretin Military Academy in St. Paul, graduating in 1965. Following his education, he moved to Manhattan Beach, California where he worked as a film technician with MGM Studios for nearly 20 years. He returned to Parkers Prairie in 1988, where he owned and operated Shyster's. He also owned and operated the Old Mill in Urbank. John built log homes in the area, concluding his building career with his family log home on Lake Irene. He enjoyed hunting and all water sports, especially Marlin fishing, boating and sailing. He also enjoyed traveling, particularly to Hawaii.
John is survived by a daughter Lisa (and James) Drew of Southern California, three sisters Sandy (and William) Loseth of North Richland Hills, Texas, Mary (and Michael) Arrata of Palos Verdes Estates, California and Patty Calhoun of Parkers Prairie, two grandchildren Riley and Macy Drew, two sisters-in-law Patty Annis of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Faith Annis of Kensington, an aunt Helen Kraemer of Parkers Prairie, an uncle Roy Kraemer of Parkers Prairie, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Annis and Tom Annis.
Pallbearers were Steve Calhoun, John Osterberg, Tom Osterberg, Stacy Kraemer, Mike Kraemer, Joel Haskamp and Roy Kraemer, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Marie Danielson, Mason Schroeder, Wayne Anderson and Steve Jarvi.
