Deloris Marcyes
1918 – 2005
Deloris Marcyes, 86, of Long Prairie, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at her home from cancer. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 18th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie with Rev. William Stockman officiating. The visitation was held on Sunday, April 17th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville. Interment was held at Evergreen Cemetery in Long Prairie. Casket Bearers were Kim Marcyes, Bryan Haugen, Jason Parker, Blaine Petrie, Greg Riedel, and Elton Petrie.

Deloris was born on December 6, 1918, in Minneapolis, to Clarence and Mabel (Torgerson) Grindy. She was confirmed at Big Grove Church in Brooten. Deloris graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1938. She married Donald Marcyes on November 23, 1940, in Sauk Centre. They farmed in Reynolds Township until 1944, when they purchased Marcyes General Store in Gutches Grove. In 1948, they left the store and moved to a farm in Iona Township. Deloris was active in Ladies Aid, Homemakers and TOPS.
She is survived by her husband Donald, children Fern (Jerry) Haugen, Alan (Connie) Marcyes, Gloria (Marvin) Schauland, Kathy (Chuck) Parker, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents and brother Stanley.
