Karen E. Meyers
1943 – 2005

Karen E. Meyers, age 62, a resident of Alexandria, formerly of Parkers Prairie, died on Thursday, November 3, 2005, at Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.

Karen Elaine Meyers was born on September 8, 1943, to Henning and Florinda (Karger) Bremmer in Parkers Prairie. She grew up in Parkers Prairie, attended public schools, graduating from Parkers Prairie High School in 1961. Following her education, she moved to Minneapolis. Karen was united in marriage to Thomas Meyers at Immanuel Lutheran Church in January of 1962. Following their marriage, they lived in Minneapolis and Utah before returning to the Parkers Prairie area in the late 1960’s. Karen worked as a bank teller for banks in Alexandria and Parkers Prairie before serving as city clerk and administrator for Parkers Prairie from 1987 until retiring in 1999 due to poor health. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. An avid reader she also enjoyed watching movies.

She is survived by her two sons, Patrick Meyers of Seattle, Washington and Troy (and Christine) Meyers of Blaine, her mother Florinda and Marvin Roers of Alexandria, brother Eugene (and Darlene) Bremmer of Parkers Prairie, three grandchildren Brandon Todd, Spencer and Preston Meyers of Blaine, nieces Faith Bremmer, Toni Archambault and Jill Lorsung and nephew Chris Bremmer.

Karen was preceded in death by her father Henning Bremmer in 1984, and sister Mary Lou Schauland in 2003.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 7th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Organist was Gloria Hollatz. Burial took place at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Schauland, Ryan Lorsung, Dennis Karger, Chris Bremmer, Ryan Bremmer and Robert Huckle.

Arrangements were by Lind Family Funeral Service, Parkers Prairie Chapel.
