Bernard “Bernie” Tschample
1920 – 2005

Bernard “Bernie” Tschample, age 84, a resident of Miltona, formerly of North Minneapolis, died on Monday, July 25, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, July 28th, at Church of St. Bridget’s in North Minneapolis with Rev. Fr. Anthony Criscitelli, T.O.R., officiating. Music will be provided by organist Sunny Wojciak-Perry and song leader Roseanne Meyer. Burial will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are by Lind Family Funeral Service, Miltona and Parkers Prairie Chapels.

Bernie was born on August 12, 1920, in Barnesville, to John and Anna (Gehrig) Tschample. He was baptized on August 29, 1920, and confirmed at The Assumption Church in Barnesville. Following his education, he worked in Illinois for a short time before entering the U.S. Army. While in the Army, he was a Corporal in Company B, Combat Engineers Battalion, serving in Africa, Italy and Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to St. Paul, where he and his brother owned and operated the Vet’s Inn. Bernie was united in marriage to Dolores Schneider at St. Mark’s Church in Ramsey County on February 19, 1949. Following their marriage, he worked as a driver for Grain Belt Brewery for 29 years. He retired in 1977, and at that time moved to Lake Miltona where he resided until the time of his death. He was a former member of Our Lady of Victory in North Minneapolis. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Alexandria and Minneapolis. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, riding snowmobile and chopping wood. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings on t.v. with his son. He was an avid card player and loved to dance. He will fondly be remembered for his keen sense of humor and his love of laughter.

He is survived by his wife Dolores, a son Rodney (and Patti) of Coon Rapids, two daughters Jan (and Larry) Sieloff of Brooklyn Park and Susan (and Don) Phillips of Roseville, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters Dorothy Motschenbacher of Burnsville and Margeurite Nosal of Barnesville.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John Tschample, Jr., and Alfred Tschample and a sister, Theresa Wellman.
Pallbearers will be Jay Gish, Justin Sieloff, Scott Garrett, Todd Detuncq, Robert Teachman, Tom Motschenbacher, and James Motschenbacher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
