Justine G. Tuel
1923 – 2005

Justine G. Tuel, age 84, a resident of Parkers Prairie, died on Monday, October 31, 2005, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.

Justine Gertrude Tuel was born on February 7, 1921, to Benard and Anna (Daas) Roers in Leaf Mountain Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. She grew up in rural Urbank. As a young girl, she moved with her parents into the town of Urbank. She completed her education and later married Richard Tuel, Jr. Following their marriage, they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They also lived in the Alexandria area and in Mahnomen for several years. They then moved to Parkers Prairie, where she owned and operated Justine’s Corner Shop for 16 years. She also worked as an administrative assistant at St. William’s Living Center and for Joyce Revering at Prairie Lumber, retiring in 1993. Justine met Jim Coe in the spring of 2000 and greatly enjoyed his company and friendship. She loved dancing, cards, traveling, her grandchildren and spending winters in Texas with Jim. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church, a 50 year member of Christian Mothers, the Card Club, Bridge Club, Birthday Club and Degree of Honor. An active member of the Parkers Prairie Community, Justine was integral in initiating the Fall Festival, of which she was the Grand Marshall in 1988.

She is survived by her son Douglas O’Toole and fiancée, Leesa Rigsby of Houston, Texas, her daughters Diane Zinda of Hermosa Beach, California and Bonnie Tuel of Minneapolis, special friend Jim Coe of Parkers Prairie, six grandchildren, great-grandson, Daniel Garcia, brother William Roers of Alexandria, sisters Mathilda Fruth of Alexandria and Lorraine Loeffler of St. Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard in 1980, a son Gregory in 1965, three brothers Edmond Roers, Tony Roers and Gary Roers, a sister Louise Becker and a granddaughter Mary Catherine O’Toole.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 4th, at St. Williams Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Dan Walz officiating. Music was provided by organist Kathleen Green, the church choir, vocalists Kayla Koep and Richard O‘Toole. Burial took place at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren Dov Tuel, Megan Garcia, Maura Pickup, Amanda O’Toole, Richard O’Toole and Douglas O‘Toole, Jr.
