Notice is given that an amended application for informal appointment of personal representative has been filed with the Registrar. No will has been presented for probate. The application has been granted.

 

Notice is also given that the Registrar has informally appointed Elizabeth A. Hezlep, whose address is 105 Smart Circle, Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, 56361, as personal representative of the Estate of the Decedent. Any heir or other interested person may be entitled to appointment as personal representative or may object to the appointment of the personal representative. Unless objections are filed with the Court (pursuant to Minnesota Statutes section 524.3-607) and the Court otherwise orders, the personal representative has full power to administer the Estate including, after 30 days from the date of issuance of letters, the power to sell, encumber, lease or distribute real estate.

 

Any objections to the appointment of the Personal Representative must be filed with this Court and will be heard by the Court after the filing of an appropriate petition and proper notice of hearing.

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 547, Parkers Prairie Public Schools, was called to order by Chairman Steve Inwards at 7:01PM.  Board members present:  Sheryl Myers, Glenn Cornish, Judy Moeller and Jeff Samuelson.  Absent: Lyle Oeltjenbruns, Scott Wagner.  Student Board members present: None.  Administration present: Superintendent Dean Yocum, Secondary Principal Carey Johnson and Elementary Principal Steve Radtke. Also present:  Linda Bates, Jennifer Marquardt, Greg Larson, Tamara Ellsworth, Jodie Zesbaugh, Barbie Doyle and Tammy Larson.

Motion by Moeller, seconded by Cornish and carried, to approve the amended agenda. 

Motion by Myers, seconded by Moeller and carried, to approve the minutes from the July regular board meeting.

Motion by Cornish, seconded by Moeller and carried, to approve Hand Payable checks totaling $22,323.94; Wire transfers totaling $194,507.68; additional Wire transfer totaling $2,313.93; Board Payable I checks totaling $184,931.93; and Board Payable II checks totaling $40,081.86.

A presentation was given by Jodie Zesbaugh and Barbie Doyle from Ehlers Financial regarding the Operating referendum renewal that will be on the November ballot.  

Superintendent Report:

• Principal Reports: 

o Principal Johnson stated that the Fishing and Clay/Trap teams have been a great addition to the school and thanked the School Board for giving students the opportunity to participate.

o Principal Johnson discussed Senior privileges, uptown passes and Panther Hour for the upcoming school year

o Principal Johnson presented proposed changes to the Student Handbook


Motion by Myers, seconded by Moeller and carried to approve the recommended changes to the Student Handbook.

o There are seven new students in the High School.

o The phone system is being updated to allow paging, updates in the new gym are nearly complete, the Strength Training room has been painted.  Many room assignments have changed, the staff room is now upstairs.

o Principal Radtke stated that Back To School packets were available for pickup on 08/08/18.  If not picked up, the packets will be mailed.  

o Parents signed up for Back to School Conferences on August 29 and 30.

o The total of students, PreK-6th grade is 299.  There are nine new students, grades 1-6.

o Updates to the Elementary School include a system for moving the bleachers, a new scoreboard, emergency exit lighting, a new TV in the Library and flooring.  A tree was removed near the tennis courts.

• Superintendent Yocum reported on additional Summer Projects:  tennis backboards, gym pads.

• The auditors were onsite this week.  The process went well.  Any additional requests for information will be done via email or phone call.  

• Superintendent Yocum provided an update on a meeting with Jim Wilson of Wendel.  A list of possible Capital projects was provided that would be finalized prior to a Building Bond referendum renewal.

• None


New Business:

• There were no donations made during the month of July.

• Member Myers introduced a resolution to renew the Operating Referendum that will expire in 2019.  Second by Cornish.  Voting in favor was Myers, Cornish, Moeller, Inwards and Samuelson.  Voting against:  None. 

• There will be a Special meeting on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 7:30AM to adopt a resolution calling for the General Election and to address the open HS English and fulltime Paraprofessional positions.

• Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Cornish and carried, to approve the 2018-19 School District membership contract with Lakes Country Service Cooperative at a cost of $3,376.

• Motion by Myers, seconded by Samuelson and carried, to hire Caleb Horn as a Vocal Music Teacher.

• Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Moeller and carried, to hire Mary Koep as a part-time Food Service employee.

• Motion by Myers, seconded by Moeller and carried, to hire Caleb Horn as a Jr. High football coach.

• Motion by Myers, seconded by Samuelson and carried to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with Otter Tail County Family Services Collaborative.

• Motion by Myers, seconded by Samuelson and carried, to set the Public Levy Hearing for Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 7:00PM.

• Motion by Moeller, seconded by Samuelson and carried, to approve the College in the School/Concurrent Enrollment Agreement with Central Lakes College.

• Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Cornish and carried, to accept the resignation of Travis Hensch.

• Motion by Myers, seconded by Moeller and carried, to hire Susan Lyman as a 1 hour paraprofessional.

• Discussion about a Crisis Management workshop being offered by the League of Minnesota Cities.
