Parkers Prairie High School Media Center

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District

547, Parkers Prairie Public Schools, was called to order by Chairman Steve

Inwards at 7:00 p.m. Board members present: Lyle Oeltjenbruns, Scott Wagner,

Judy Moeller, Glenn Cornish and Jeff Samuelson. Absent: Christy Hart. Student

Board Members present: Eli Simonson. Administration present: Superintendent

Dean Yocum, Secondary Principal Carey Johnson and Elementary Principal Steve

Radtke. Also present: Jen Marquardt, Melisa Brever, Roger Rewitzer and Tammy

Larson.

Motion by Oeltjenbruns, seconded by Wagner and carried, to approve the

amended agenda.

Motion by Cornish, seconded by Wagner and carried, to approve the minutes

from the May regular board meeting.

Motion by Cornish, seconded by Oeltjenbruns and carried, to approve Hand

Payable checks totaling $30,470.53; Wire transfers totaling $263,362.64; Board

Payable I checks totaling $66,581.72; and Board Payable II checks totaling

$67,530.27.

Superintendent Report:

Provided an update on 2019 Legislative Session and current Summer projects.

Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Cornish and carried, to approve changes to

the 2019-2020 Capital Projects list as presented.

Provided a summary of a recent meeting with Architect Jim Wilson regarding the

upcoming Bond renewal.

The monthly RAED update was included in Board member packets.

Discussion regarding having a Supervisor within the Maintenance Department,

an At Will, non-union position.

Motion by Cornish, seconded by Moeller and carried, to approve the creation of

a Building/Grounds Director position.

Principal Reports:

Principal Radtke

Construction is underway for the Elementary secure entry project.

Many field trips were taken at the end of the school year, including K-3 students

visiting St. Williams Living Center. Thank you to the Board for allowing the many

field trips taken during the year.

Thank you to Dale Plasek and Caleb Horn for a successful Spring concert.

Principal Johnson

Congratulations to the Class of 2019. 33 students received diplomas.

The 8th grade South Dakota Field trip was once again very successful. Thank

you to the community for continuing to support this learning experience.

Thank you to Dale Plasek and Caleb Horn for all of their efforts this year. This

Spring included the Pops Concert and performances at a Veteran’s Day program

and Graduation.

Students in grades 7-11 attended a presentation regarding Human Trafficking

New Business:

A RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT DONATIONS was introduced by member

Cornish, seconded by Oeltjenbruns and passed unanimously.

WHEREAS, the District 547 School Board encourages the support of the district’s

educational programs through the funding and support of grant opportunities and

donations that meet the goals and objectives of the school district;

WHEREAS, the school district will control and maintain all grants and donations

to ensure that the interests of all students are met;

WHEREAS, the grants and donations listed below have been reviewed and

approved by the administration of School District 547;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the School Board of Independent School
